What is the BITSoM MBA Program?

Does the program award an MBA degree?
Yes. All students who complete the credit requirements of the 2 year program will be awarded a post graduate degree of Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
Who are the faculty that will be teaching at BITSoM?
BITSoM follows Block Teaching methodology for imparting seminal & wholesome education to the students. The courses will be taught by faculty handpicked from leading business schools across the world. The faculty members will be available on campus as and when they are teaching their respective modules. During the course of the module, they will be entirely available inside as well as outside the classroom to ensure students make most out of their time spent with the faculty.
How accessible will the faculty be?
All faculty will be accessible outside of class hours. Faculty will announce their office hours at the start of the course. Students can seek an appointment with the faculty/their Academic Associates. They will also be available on email and other electronic mediums post the course.
Is the admission fee a part of the overall course fee?
Yes. The one time admission fee is inclusive of the total cost of the program
I have received an offer; by when do I need to revert?
The timelines for responding to the offer will be mentioned in the offer letter. Subsequently,candidates can also log in to the student dashboard for accessing this information or reach out to the admissions team on firstname.lastname@example.org or +91 80500 12004.
I want to accept my offer; how much do I need to pay?
At the time of accepting offer, candidates are required to pay INR 1,50,000. The rest of the amount will be payable before the start of the program. The timelines and more details regarding payment of balance amount will be accessible on the student dashboard post acceptance of offer and will also be notified via email
How can I pay my Fee?
Students are required to deposit the fees by logging in to their dashboard and clicking on ‘Make Payment’ tab. This will redirect to the payment page and enable applicants to deposit the fee. We accept fees through NEFT/ RTGS/ IMPS/ Cheque/ Credit Card and UPI
I am eligible to apply to BITSoM, but I cannot afford the full fee. Can I expect assistance from BITSoM?
BITSoM provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving students. Additionally, the institute has tie ups with leading banks that provide exclusive education loan options to the students.
When can I apply for an educational loan?
Applicants can apply for an education loan after accepting the admission offer and paying the one time admission fee. BITSoM has tie ups with leading banks that offer exclusive interest rates and terms for BITSoM students.
Does BITSoM accept sponsored candidates from companies?
Yes, we welcome candidates sponsored by companies. These candidates will be considered at par with non-sponsored candidates and the application process will remain common irrespective of nature of sponsorship.
Does the fee cover Laptop?
No, the fee is exclusive of laptop. Students are expected to have a laptop with basic office software.
Is the Application Fee refundable?
No, the Application Fee is non-refundable
Is the One-Time Admission fee refundable?
Yes, the One-Time Admission fee is refundable contingent to the institute’s refund policy.
Does BITSoM offer scholarships ??
Yes, BITSoM offers scholarships to students. All applicants are considered by default for Merit Scholarships. Candidates seeking Merit-cum-Need based scholarships must fill the 'Scholarship Section' in the Application Form
What are the types of scholarships that I can apply for?

When will BITSoM announce scholarship decisions?

Do I have to submit any documents for availing scholarships ?
Yes, candidates that will be offered Merit-cum-Need scholarships must submit corresponding documents during the Registration Process or on demand by the college authorities at any time during the admissions process
What is the eligibility criteria for need based scholarship?
To be eligible for the Merit-cum-Need based scholarship, the applicant's family income(Parents if unmarried & Spouse - if married) including applicant’s personal income should not be more than INR 18 Lakhs annually
How do I know if I am eligible to apply to BITSoM ?
To be eligible to apply to BITSoM , a student must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university before the start date of the desired intake year. Students completing their undergraduate degree in the summer of 2023 are also eligible to apply.
Are standard tests mandatory to apply? Which ones are allowed?
It is mandatory for candidates to provide valid CAT/GMAT/GRE scores for completing their application. Round 1/Round2 applicants can submit their application by availing the option of ‘updating test scores later’. However, all such candidates must update their respective scores by 12th March 2023, failing which their application will be disqualified
Is there a minimum GRE/GMAT/CAT score required to apply? Are there sectional cut-offs?
BITSoM evaluates candidate's application holistically. While a standardized test score is mandatory, there is no minimum score required by prospective students to go ahead with their applications. There are no sectional cut-offs either.
What is the BITSoM GMAT code?
Candidates must visit www.mba.com and select 'search by institute' option and type 'BITS' in the search bar. Subsequently, they must select BITS, Mumbai and their official scorecards will be sent to BITSoM.
Does BITSoM accept online GMAT scores?
BITSoM will accept Online GMAT test scores for the class commencing in the year 2023.
What is the BITSoM GRE code?
Please note that the BITSoM code for the GRE is 2855. For more information on the GRE, please visit www.ets.org. Every applicant must ensure that the official score report is sent directly to BITSoM by the testing agency.
Does BITSoM give preference to any one of the standardized tests (CAT/GMAT/GRE) accepted in the application process?
There is no special preference given to a particular test. Each test is evaluated as per its own scoring profile. You will not be at a disadvantage for picking either of the three tests.
Can a student apply with CAT 2021 scores?
No, only CAT 2022 scores are valid for the class commencing in the year 2023.
Is GMAT/GRE score of 2017 valid?
GMAT/GRE scores are valid for 5 years. Your GMAT/GRE score should be valid at the time of taking the admission.
Can I submit my scores separately after I submit the application form?

What are the steps in the application process?
BITSoM has a 2-step application process. It begins with submitting an online application form ,followed by a personal interview for shortlisted candidates.
Do I need to complete the whole application in one go?
No, the online application portal allows you to save sections of your application so that you can log in multiple times at your own comfort to complete your application as per the timelines.
Is it important to mention extra-curricular activities in the application?
BITSoM values robustness in its candidates, thus It is highly recommended to mention extra-curricular activities (if any). However, it is not mandatory and will not affect the validity or the completeness of your application.
I have worked in my family business for the past year, does that count as work experience?
Yes, any work experience is welcome. Candidates can enter details of their family business experience in the work experience section of the application form.
Do part-time work and internships count as work experience?
No, only fulll time engagement qualifies as work experience. However, internships & part time experience are integral for understanding a candidate’s profile. These can be mentioned in the work experience section of the application form.
When is the right time to apply to BITSoM?
Each round of admissions gives prospective applicants an equal opportunity to get into BITSoM. However, since the admissions are given on a rolling basis, it is highly recommended that you apply in the earlier rounds.
Do I need to send hard copies of my transcripts, marksheets, or other documents that are required as a part of the application?
No, that is not required. All documents are to be uploaded on the application portal online.
How will my recommenders fill their form?
Applicants can download the BITSoM LOR Format from the 'References' section of the application form and share it with their referee. Candidates can upload the filled LOR on their student dashboard. LOR can be uploaded even after the application deadline.
I couldn’t make it in the first round, can I apply in the next round?
No. Students can only apply once in an admissions cycle. However, it is possible to apply again for the next academic year.
If I make it to the interview round, how will I find out?
Candidates will be notified via email about the status of their candidature.
How will the interviews be conducted?
Interviews will be conducted either in person or virtually. In case an in-person interview is scheduled, the location, time and other logistics will be communicated to candidates well in advance
Do you have any quotas?
No. There are no quotas at BITSoM and all applicants are required to follow the regular application process.
How do I add/change information if I have already submitted my application?
Application Form cannot be edited after submission. Hence, candidates will not be able to add/delete any information after submitting their application.
I received my offer; can I defer it?
No, currently BITSoM does not have a deferral policy. In case of special circumstances, please write to us on email@example.com and we will get back to you accordingly.
How does the referral process work?
The referral process is a non mandatory requirement for applying to BITSoM. Candidates willing to submit a letter of recommendation can download the format from the References section of the application form. The filled LOR can be uploaded on the student dashboard. Applicants can upload the LOR even after the application deadline.
Who should I choose as my referee?
Applicants with no work experience may opt for a faculty member/principal/head of the department from their college of graduation/post graduation. Applicants with work experience may opt for their current/former reporting manager/supervisor/senior colleague.
Can I choose my friend, colleague, or family member to be my referee?
No.We recommend that you opt for someone with whom you have shared a professional relationship. If you are in a family business, we advise getting referral from stakeholders other than your family members such as business partners, vendors, clients, suppliers etc. will be acceptable.
What if I'm not currently working or if I don't want my current employer to know that I'm leaving for an MBA?
An applicant can choose a former senior work colleague or former reporting manager as a referee. In case this is not possible, you can opt for an academic referee (former professor/HOD/Principal) from your last attended college.
Does BITSoM provide accommodation for outstation students?
Yes. Students reside in shared, fully furnished apartments close to the campus. Each apartment is equipped with a functional kitchenette.
Is it mandatory for all students to stay at the student residences?
Yes, the BITSoM MBA is a two year fully residential program. All students are required to stay at the student residences.
I am married. Can my spouse live with me in the student accommodation?
No, hostel accommodation is only for students
Can I see the accommodation before taking admission?
Yes. We can arrange for a visit to the residential complex, with prior notice, and at an appropriate time before the start of the session.
How far is the campus from the residences?
The Campus is within 1km from the residential complex. It takes approximately 5-10 minutes to travel by the shuttle, subject to traffic conditions.
What facilities are provided at BITSoM residences?
All student apartmemts are air conditioned, fully furnished with a working kitchen set up. WiFi, Refrigerator, Washing Machine, Induction Plate, Bed Linen are some of the amenities provided to the students. There is also a provision for doctor on call, parking facility and paid laundry service. The residential complex is equipped with 24x7 security for the safety of the students.
What facilities are provided on the campus?
Apart from access to the classrooms and the library; all faculty, staff and students have access to dining facilities, cafe, first – aid, wellness center etc.
How will I travel from the campus and residence, or vice versa? Will it be charged?
Shuttle service is provided to the students to and fro from the campus and residential complex on all days at fixed intervals. This is a free, complimentary facility for all the students.
Are self catered residences an option?
The student residences are equipped with a functional kitchen but owing to the rigor of the program, it is recommended that students avail the BITSoM campus dining facilities on a daily basis.
Will the institution get a health insurance with COVID cover for me?
It is mandatory for students who join the program to have a health insurance cover with a COVID cover. You need to share a copy of your insurance policy at the time of taking the admission. In case you do not have one, you can get an insuarance policy from BITSoM’s insurance provider at extra cost.
How safe will the campus, hostel and travel be, considering the COVID situation?
All government guidelines with regards to safety of students will be followed at the campus, hostel and travel.
Does BITSoM offer campus placements?
Yes, BITSoM offers campus placements.
When will the Placements start?
Placements will start in November/December every year, for final year students. While a few companies may start coming in from October onwards, the placements will continue till the end of March.

What is the cost of re-evaluation test?
A fee of Rupees Five Hundred only will be charged for re-evaluation. If the student requests for a re-evaluation, the entire submission will be open for re grading, which may lead to an increase or decrease in scores. If the re-evaluation is considered inapt the amount/re-evaluation fee will NOT be refunded, and if the scores change (increase) the fee will be refunded.
If my transcript is not in English, is a translated copy required?
Yes, all required documents must be presented in English. If the original copies are in a regional language, they must be translated and verified by the respective organisation.
BITSoM complies with all COVID related guidelines and protocols as specified by the government to ensure the highest standards of health and safety for its students, faculty, and staff. Current government regulations do not allow for physical in-person classes in Mumbai and therefore all classes are being held online. Our interim campus in Mumbai is fully ready and functional. As soon as physical in-person classes are permitted, we will commence these at our campus.
While completely adhering to government regulations, we also do not want to compromise on peer learning. Therefore, BITSoM student residences in Mumbai have been made operational, and our students have been given the option of staying at the facility. All students who wish to stay at the student residences must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and adhere to the COVID guidelines as issued by the government.
