The initial days at BITSoM were a whirlwind of activities designed to help us settle in and bond with our cohort. Orientation Week, fondly referred to as O-Week here, was packed with challenging games aimed at breaking the ice and building camaraderie. The talent night was a highlight for me, where our section, A, clinched victory with an electrifying performance themed ‘Sanjay Leela Bhansali Crossover into the Corporate’ which was as interesting as it sounds. To top it off, our cohort celebrated the historic T20 World Cup win! which only added to the sense of unity and excitement among us. These experiences laid a solid foundation for the friendships and memories we would create in the coming months.

Academics at BITSoM are nothing short of rigorous, yet they are designed to be engaging and relevant. In just one month, we delved deep into various subjects through block teaching—a method that allows us to immerse ourselves in a single course for a short, intensive period. Marketing Management has been particularly enlightening, with Prof. Piyush Kumar’s focus on margin expansion strategies that opened my eyes to the intricacies of value creation. In Statistics, with Prof. Rohit Deo I learned about the concept of ‘lift’ in product analysis, a powerful tool that enhances our understanding of market dynamics. Now teaching us Design Thinking is none other than Prof. Ranjan Banerjee delving into real life applications with his industry experience normalizing a radical way of thinking as we embark to solve actual business problems with Kerela Ayurveda. Each class has been a revelation, equipping us with practical knowledge and skills that are immediately applicable.

One of the standout aspects of my experience at BITSoM has been the CV mentorship program. Here, seniors and faculty members provide personalized guidance to help us craft compelling resumes that reflect our strengths and aspirations. This mentorship goes beyond mere formatting tips; it’s about shaping our narratives and positioning ourselves for future success. The culture at BITSoM is rooted in collaboration over competition. Seniors, who once stood in our shoes, readily share their experiences and insights, fostering a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to thrive.

Despite the initial fears of homesickness, BITSoM has truly become a second home for me. Room 741, my cozy haven, is not just a place to sleep; it’s where friendships have blossomed, and countless late-night conversations have taken place. My friends here have become my family, offering support, laughter, and shared experiences that have made this transition seamless. The bonds we’ve formed are strong and genuine, making every moment spent at BITSoM a cherished one.
