Competing against over a thousand teams from top global B-schools, a team from BITSoM’s Class of 2026 stood out for its strategic insight, analytical depth, and bold thinking.
I arrived at BITSoM two days before orientation week, feeling a mix of excitement and uncertainty. The campus seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, which is apparently a thing for many MBA colleges. It’s the trade-off for a large, serene campus, I guess. But soon, the location felt like a non-issue. The MBA life here is so packed with activities that the surroundings hardly seem to matter.

It would be an understatement to say that the Marketing Management course at BITSoM was a myth-buster. It was an eye-opener from the outset, challenging our traditional perceptions of marketing and making us see the subject in a whole new light. Whether it was the concept of marketing itself or Professor’s new addition to the 4 business orientations — the ‘income statement orientation’ — the course gave us a novel take on the management of innovation, brands and customers by marketers.
What if we told you that with just an Excel Sheet, a couple of simple add-ins, and a Java-based graphing applet, you can take trips across India — from the Northeast to Kanyakumari – and across domains – from oil & gas to digital advertising? Well, if anyone can take you on this exhilarating journey in two weeks, Professor Ziv Katalan can. During ‘Decision Models and Uncertainty’, our fourth core course at BITSoM, we had the incredible opportunity to join him on the ride.
