ROOTS & ROUTES VOL. 1
INTRODUCING ROOTS AND ROUTES | BITSoM’s ALUMNI NEWSLETTER
Dear BITSoM Alumni,
We hope you’re well and thriving in your journeys.
No matter where life takes you after BITSoM, you will always be part of the story we are building together. As our community grows, we want to find more ways to stay connected, celebrate one another’s journeys, and keep the BITSoM spirit alive beyond the campus.
With this in mind, we are delighted to share the first edition of Roots and Routes, BITSoM’s quarterly alumni newsletter.
The name is simple. BITSoM is where our roots are, and the routes are the many paths you have taken since, across industries, cities and countries. ‘Roots and Routes’ is a way to bring our community closer, to share the ideas, experiences and people that make BITSoM what it is. We hope it serves as a reminder of the connections that endure, and the many ways our journeys continue to intersect.
As you read through this edition, we hope you find something that resonates with you, sparks a memory, or inspires you to reconnect with the BITSoM community. As we look ahead, we hope to make this newsletter a conduit for conversation and togetherness.
Your stories, reflections and experiences are an important part of that. We’re glad you’re here, and we look forward to staying connected.

FROM THE DEAN’S DESK
It gives me great joy to write to you through our alumni newsletter. We now have four batches who have walked out of our gates and into the world, and we have just welcomed our fifth, a cohort of 240 students who join a story that you helped begin.

NOTE FROM THE HEAD OF ALUMNI RELATIONS
As we celebrate five remarkable years of BITSoM, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the incredible journey we have shared. While five years may seem like a short span in the life of an institution, it represents countless milestones, bold aspirations, and the unwavering commitment of a community determined to create lasting impact.

LIFE AFTER BITSoM
We often imagine education as the accumulation of knowledge. My experience at BITSoM was almost the opposite – it was the gradual unlearning of certainty. I walked into campus believing I knew marketing reasonably well, having read literature and practiced it for a few years.

FACULTY HIGHLIGHTS
This academic year, BITSoM is delighted to welcome three outstanding scholars to its faculty. With experience at some of the world’s leading institutions, they bring fresh perspectives that will enrich our classrooms and contribute to BITSoM’s growing research ecosystem.

THE PERSPECTIVE
BITSoM faculty and alumni share their thinking on the forces reshaping their industries

FOUNDERS CORNER
I didn’t set out to be a founder. I started in consulting — BCG, then KPMG — and later joined Freyr Solutions, a US-based firm, where I worked with the Head of US Business on the strategy team.

ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT UPDATES
The Alumni Relations Committee (ARC) continued to strengthen the connection between BITSoM and its growing alumni community through a diverse calendar of initiatives in 2025:

That’s all for this edition. From the first batch to the latest, the routes may differ, but the roots are the same. We’d love to hear where yours have taken you. Write to us with your news, memories or ideas for the next issue, and let’s keep this conversation going.
